ABSTRACT:
Fluorophosphate glasses represent a
favorable
compromise between the requirements of
low non-linear
refractive index (fluoride glass) and
high cross
section (phosphate glasses) for
laser materials
application. In this work, we introduce
a new series of
glass materials for broadband
and eye-safe
laser source applications: (Mg,
Ba)F2-based
fluoride glasses incorporated
with
metaphosphate compounds. Since this new
series of glass
can be doped by Yb 3+ ions with
a relatively high
dopant concentration, they are
expected to be a
good candidate for compact fiber and
waveguide laser
applications. In this regard, various
optical and
spectroscopic characterizations have
been performed.
